Power Verses……
Take time to read Revelation 21 - 22: 5 |
The
store is told of an old Christian
missionary named Samuel Morrison who,
after thirty five years in Africa, was
returning home to the United States to
live out his final years. As it so
happened, he travelled home on the same
liner as the then President Teddy
Roosevelt, who was returning from a
hunting expedition to Africa. When the
ship pulled into the harbour at New
York, the quay was jammed full of well
wishers. Band were playing, banners
waving, choirs singing, photographers
flashlights popping, and reporters
longing for a word from the president.
As the president stepped down the
gangplank to thunderous applause and
cheering, the police had to restrain the
surging crowd.
At the same time, Samuel Morrison
quietly walked off the boat. No one was
there to greet him. He slipped alone
through the crowd, struggling to find a
taxi.
Inside his heart he began to complain,
Lord, the president has been in Africa
for three weeks, killing animals, and
the whole world turns out to welcome him
home! I’ve given thirty five years of my
life in Africa, serving You, and no one
has greeted me or even knows I’m here.
Then in the quietness of his heart, a
gentle, loving inward voice whispered
the comforting assurance, But my dear
child you are not home yet!
Home! What does the word mean to you? Is
it synonymous with love, acceptance,
comfort, and security? Is a place where
your needs are met? A place where you
can take your burdens and the problems
of life and lay them down? Is it a place
where you can not only find answers but
where your questions no longer seem to
matter?
Each person reading this will have a
different memory of home, from childhood
to the present day. However, no matter
your earthly memories, be very aware
that for the Christian, they are not
really home, because Jesus promised each
and every one of us;
“In my Father’s house are many mansions,
if it were nor so, I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and receive you to
myself; that where I am, there you may
be also.” (John 14: 2-4)
Has you life been a series of
struggles?.........More sick than
well?.......More defeated than
successful?.........More alone than
accompanied?.........More empty than
satisfied?.........Do you feel defeated
and empty because after a lifetime of
struggles, all you look forward to is
death and a cold grave?........
Then take heart! Because Jesus Christ is
preparing a heavenly home that…….
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor
have entered into the heart of man the
things which God has prepared for those
who love Him.” (I Corinthians 2: 9)
That gives tremendous hope to all those
who currently feel ultimately defeated
and overwhelmed by death.
Knowing Jesus Christ guarantees perfect
love, acceptance, comfort and security
ETERNALLY!
